Wintry Music – Go Listen Boise
We are so excited to announce that this year’s Wintry Market will feature live performers curated by Go Listen Boise. Go Listen Boise is a non-profit volunteer organization geared to fostering a vibrant and diverse music culture in Boise.
Our schedule for both days features some amazing local talent, check them out below!
Saturday, Nov. 2nd:
11am – Boise Rock School
Boise Rock School is an independent music school that teaches kids and adults how to rock! Boise Rock School runs as an after-school program with ongoing enrollment, a summer camp destination and outreach program for Idaho schools. For more information visit: boiserockschool.com.
1pm – Travis Ward
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Travis Ward fronts the band Hillfolk Noir which is is described as a trio of neo-traditionalists playing traditional music on traditional instruments for non-traditional times. They call it Junkerdash, and it’s a sound brewed from folk, bluegrass, punk, string-band blues and other influences musical and otherwise.
3pm – True Story
The songs and lyrics of Anderson Mitchell and the stories and poems of Eric Valentine combine to create what some have called narrative folk, musical literature, and storytelling blues. We call it: a story with a score. True Story is a Boise-based performance art group combining storytelling, rhythmic reading and poetry with guitar, cello, light percussion and vocals.
Sunday, Nov. 3rd:
11am – A Seasonal Disguise
A Seasonal Disguise is a band from Boise, Idaho, USA. Conceptualized in 2004, the band has gone on to release four full length albums, one EP and play countless shows in various forms. A Seasonal Disguise has shared the stage with the likes of: Built To Spill, Frog Eyes, Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), Clem Snide, Dave Dondero, Heligoats, Tartufi, Finn Riggins, and The Cave Singers among others. 2013 finds them settling into a new incarnation and beginning work on the follow up to 2012’s Waterfowl Of Eastern Canada. Look for them at home and abroad this summer/fall. They still like wombats.
1pm – Anderson Mitchell
Anderson Mitchell brings a rock voice and blues lyrics to folk guitar and melody. Raised in Texas and California, Anderson Mitchell is that rare musician with a cultural DNA that combines all three of those soulful music genres. Anderson Mitchell is an accomplished singer songwriter with stage experience, having played with Incubus and other popular bands. Mitchell is re-emerging with his own brand of music now, folk-blues alternative rock.
